My Rant About Spoilers
Ok internets, today's rant is about spoilers. In the day and age we live in where we have access to everything practically everywhere (that's right internet I'm looking at you) it seems to me that we are coming across the generic problem that people are just way to desperate for new details that are not ready for general conveyance yet. I use a RSS reader to look at the literally hundreds of websites that I like to look at on a regular basis. I do this for 2 reason, 1. I like going to one place to be able to scroll through items and pick and choose what I want to read or just blow past it, and 2. at least for the time being it seems to get me past the firewall at work so I can view pages that work says no to. It is fucking in-nerd-raging when you go to pull up the web and are bombarded with all kinds of spoiler nonsense on some of your favorite media titles. Game, Movie, and Television media outlets are all guilty of this. Hell, for 6 months leading up to the release of Mass Effect 3 I had to pretty much alienate myself from the majority of Video Game blogs and news sources I like because the last thing I wanted was to have some plot point spoiled and ruin the experiences for myself. Did I need to see Tali's face before the game came out? No! But some dip-shit with a blog and an internet connection seems to think this was necessary! Fuck him! Anyway this all is pouring out of me because today I got tricked into seeing some shots of The Dark Knight Rises that were "leaked". This is another title that has me avoiding websites, I already have my concerns with the movie, but in Nolan I am trusting and I want to go into the film excited and not knowing what I am going to see. Why the hell does the press need to sit outside Wayne manor waiting to get a glimpse of Batman that for all we know won't even be in the damn movie?! All this aside, after the movie is released I don't tend to get as mad about spoiled content, especially when reading a review of some sort, but for the Black Widows sake many of these movies are still at least a month or two from release. To my fellow nerds, I suggest that if you are really in that need of a Bat fix go out on Wednesday and pick up some new comics. Can't wait till December for some Hobbity goodness GO READ THE DAMN BOOK! What ever you do don't use your newly found networking powers to force information down the throats of those who are willing to wait for a director to perfect his or her craft and present a finished product to us as they intended, then after they fuck up Spiderman again go ahead an use the power of the internet to rage on the forum or other social media as you please. Seriously, if someone else tells to tell me the next cast member to die on The Walking Dead or what shenanigans Master Chief is going to get into in Halo 4 than someone is going to have to divide by 0. That is all.
