The announcement that Kevin Smith was stepping away from the director's chair was not my favorite news bit I had heard last year, especially coming off od Red State which was probably the man's best film to date. That being said I do like the direction that Smith is putting his efforts into going forward. I'm not sure what his eye for film will be when it comes to producing indy flicks but that's definitely not a strike against him either. Regardless it will be interesting to see where this endeavor leads.
