Warning Spoilers Ahead!! Do Not read if you Have not watched and finished Season 6!!!
6 seasons into the epic series Dexter, 6 seasons where I have been consistently amazed and blown away by a television show in which I normally can say nothing bad about. Sadly season 6, though it had some of my favorite moments of the entire series, has left me a bit sour as to how this epic story was brought to a conclusion for the next 9 months or so. First, Gellar was awesome, arguably the best non Dexter bad guy I have seen on the show, yet as soon as we found out that he was a figment of Travis' screwed up little head poof he's gone? Why is it that just doesn't sit right with me, and while were on the subject why do all of the killings from Travis lack the same touch after he comes to grips with his own demented reality? He did just fine slaughtering whores and non believers as someone with multiple personalities so now that he is aware of the fact that he's bat shit crazy he looses all creativity with his smiting? Then there is Deb, for 5 seasons we have watched Deb get traumatized by boyfriend after boyfriend and now we get to spend a whole season watching Deb get therapy just to come to terms with the fat that she wants to fuck her IRL ex-husband?! What the hell is that?!!? I'm sorry, I love a good plot twist but this one just isn't doing it for me, I was really hoping this would turn into one of those tv moments that just goes away so we don't have to think about it anymore (kinda like Aster and Cody, you know Dexter's dead wives other two kids that were totally MIA this entire season) but no instead we get the predictable cliffhanger ending where Deb finally see's Dexter for who he really is right after getting her "breakthrough" moment in therapy. Right, no one saw that coming..... So that leads me to my biggest gripe of this season, why the hell did I see this, and really all of the surprise plot twists in this season (outside of the bizarre road trip to Nebraska) coming well before they happened? This show has spent half a decade surprising me and now this? As a whole I still found this to be a better season than 5 but I totally feel like the writers half assed this season. Quite sad seeing as the formula felt stale almost all year and then Dexter got picked up for 2 more seasons. OK, I'm done bitching for now.
